Single room building estimation is the calculations of various item quantities like earthwork in excavation, concrete in foundation, brick masonry.

5 building estimation items of a single room

The inner dimensions of the single room building are 6 m x 5 m.

The thickness of the outer walls is 230mm.

Given below the cross-section details of the single-room building.

Based on the above details the following 5 building estimation quantities for the single room shall be calculated.

  1. Earthwork excavation quantity  for the foundation
  2. Concrete quantity for the foundation
  3. CRS (crushed rouble stone)  masonry quantity
  4. Concrete quantity in plinth beams
  5. 1st class brickwork in single room building superstructure.

The longwall length from centre to the centre can be calculated =6+0.5×0.230+0.5x.230=6.23 m

The short wall length from centre to the centre can be calculated =5+0.5×0.230+0.5×0.230=5.23 m.

1.Earthwork excavation quantity in foundation :

From the single-room building section, depth of foundation from ground level(GL) is 900mm (300 mm +300 mm+300 mm) and width of the foundation is 900 mm.

Total length of one long wall for foundation excavation = 6.23 m+0.45 m+0.45 m = 7.13 m

The total length of one short wall for foundation excavation =5.23 m- 0.45 m -0.45 m =4.33 m.

So, total earthwork excavation quantity in foundation for long walls = 2 nos x 7.13 m x 0.9 m depth x 0.9 m width =11.55 cum

Total earthwork excavation quantity in foundation for short walls = 2 nos x 4.33 m x 0.9m depth x 0.9 m width = 7.01 cum.

So Total building estimation item, earthwork excavation quantity for the foundation of single-room building = 11.55 cum + 7.01 cum =18.56 cum.

2.Concrete quantity for the foundation  :

Total length of one long wall for foundation Concrete  = 6.23 m+0.45 m +0.45 = 7.13 m

The total length of one short wall for foundation Concrete =5.23 m-0.45 m-0.45 m=4.33 m

From the single-room building section, depth of concrete foundation is 0.3 m. 

So, total concrete quantity for foundation for long walls = 2 nos x 7.13 m x 0.3 m depth x 0.9 m width =3.85 cum

Total concrete quantity for foundation for short walls = 2 nos x 4.33 m x 0.3 m depth x 0.9 m width =2.33 cum

Total building estimation item, concrete quantity for foundation is 3.85 cum + 2.33 cum =6.18 cum. 

3.Crushed rubble stone masonry quantity 

As per the single-room building section, CRS masonry is laid in 2 steps. 

In 1st step crushed rubble stone ( CRS) wall width is 600 mm and height is 300 mm. 

In the 2nd step, CRS wall width is 500 mm and the depth is 300 mm. 

1st step CRS wall

Long CRS wall 

The total length of one long CRS wall in 1st step = 6.23 m+0.3 m + 0.3 m =6.83 m 

So Total long CRS wall quantity in 1st step=2 nos x 6.83 m x 0.6 m x 0.3 m = 2.45 cum 

Short CRS wall

The total length of short CRS wall in 1st step = 5.23 m – 0.3 m -0.3 m =4.63 m. 

Total short  CRS wall quantity in 1st step =2 nos x 4.63 m x 0.6 m x 0.3 m = 1.66 cum

2nd step CRS wall

Long CRS wall  

The total length of one long CRS wall in 2nd step = 6.23 m+0.25 m + 0.25 m =6.73 m 

So Total long CRS wall quantity in 2nd step=2 nos x 6.73 m x 0.5 m x 0.3 m = 2.01 cum 

Short CRS wall  

The total length of short CRS wall in 2nd step = 5.23 m – 0.25 m -0.25 m =4.73 m. 

Total short  CRS wall quantity in 2nd step =2 nos x 4.73 m x 0.5 m x 0.3 m = 1.41 cum

Total CRS masonry quantity 

So Total building estimation items, CRS masonry quantity for building including 1st and 2nd step =2.45 cum +1.66 cum +2.01 cum + 1.41 cum =7.53 cum. 

4.Concrete quantity in plinth beams 

As per the section, the depth of the plinth beam is 600 mm and width is 400 mm. 

Long plinth beam 

The total length of long plinth beam  = 6.23 m+0.20 m + 0.20 m =6.63 m 

So Total long plinth beam  concrete quantity  =2 nos x 6.63 m x 0.4 m x 0.6 m = 3.18 cum 

Short plinth beam 

The total length of short plinth beam  = 5.23 m – 0.20 m -0.20 m =4.83 m. 

Total short  plinth beam concrete quantity =2 nos x 4.83 m x 0.4 m x 0.6 m = 2.31 cum

Total plinth beam quantity 

So Total building estimation item, plinth beam concrete quantity for building=3.18 cum +2.31 cum =5.49 cum

5.1st class brickwork in the superstructure 

As per the given section, the brick wall thickness is 230 mm and height is 3.5 m. 

Long brick wall 

The total length of long brick wall =6.23 m+0.115 m + 0.115 m =6.46 m 

So Total long  wall brickwork  quantity  =2 nos x 6.46 m x 0.23 m width  x 3.5 m height  = 10.4 cum 

Short brick wall 

The total length of short brick wall  = 5.23 m – 0.115 m -0.115m =5 m. 

Total short wall brickwork quantity =2 nos x 5 m x 0.23 m x 3.5 m = 8.05 cum

Total 1st class brickwork quantity 

So Total building estimation items,  1st class brickwork  quantity for building=10.4 cum +8.05 cum =18.9 cum

Conclusion :

So by the above process, we can calculate  5 building estimation items of one single room.
